Ring
the bells
In 1994, a week after my
grandmother's funeral, the telephone rang one morning and awoke my
mother. She said she heard static at first, and then her mother's
voice
state her name. My mother was so astonished and she asked my
grandmother "what
are you doing? How are you calling me?” My grandmother
replied in a
very gay voice "It's my day to ring the bells!” That was the end
of
the phone call. My mother is still astonished to this day and
says her
voice was just as clear as day.
